Project Impact: What Was Accomplished
The goal was simple: create an AI-powered mindfulness app that helps users monitor and improve their mental well-being. As the sole designer, I developed an intuitive, user-friendly experience that leverages AI to track mood, offer personalized mindfulness exercises, and learn from the user’s emotional state over time. The result? An app that empowers users to manage their mental health, offering tools to build better habits and stay balanced in their day-to-day lives.
Key Impact:
🧘♀️ Mood Tracking: Enabled users to check and track their emotional state with ease.
🤖 AI Personalization: Tailored mindfulness exercises based on real-time mood data.
🎯 User Engagement: Created interactive, guided sessions that kept users engaged and motivated.
Defining the Problem
The challenge was clear: mental well-being is often hard to track and even harder to manage consistently. Users needed an easy way to monitor their emotions and receive personalized guidance on how to improve their mood—without overwhelming them with complicated tools or processes.
Through research, I found that users were looking for mindfulness tools that felt intuitive, supportive, and customized to their needs.
Why We Created This
This app wasn’t just about providing meditation exercises; it was about helping users build habits for better mental health. By integrating AI, the app could learn from a user’s moods and suggest the most effective exercises to improve their emotional state—helping them feel more balanced and in control of their well-being.

The Design Process: From Concept to Prototype
I started by researching the needs of users interested in mindfulness, particularly those who wanted something more personalized than generic meditation apps. Through user surveys and focus groups, I learned that people wanted tools that felt more like a personal coach, not just another app.
I then designed wireframes and prototypes that focused on a simple, easy-to-navigate interface. The goal was to create a seamless experience where users could quickly check in on their mood and receive tailored guidance.

Testing, Learning, and Iterating
I conducted two rounds of usability testing to refine the app’s core features:
Round 1 – Onboarding & Mood Input:
Users found the mood check-in process simple, but I added tooltips to clarify how their input would inform the AI’s suggestions.
Round 2 – AI-Powered Mindfulness Sessions:
Users interacted with the AI’s suggestions and gave feedback on how the exercises made them feel. Key takeaways:
🌱 Clearer AI Feedback: Users wanted more clarity on how the AI tailored suggestions.
🎨 Customization: People wanted the ability to adjust the type of exercises (e.g., guided breathing, visualization, affirmations). I added options for users to customize their sessions.
💾 Saving Progress: Users wanted to track their improvement over time. I added a progress tracker to visualize their emotional journey.
Key Features: Bringing the Vision to Life
The app’s design includes several key features to help users stay mindful and improve their mood:
🧠 Mood Tracking: Simple, daily check-ins that help users understand their emotional state.
🤖 AI-Generated Exercises: Personalized mindfulness sessions based on the user’s mood.
🎨 Customizable Sessions: Options to choose between different types of mindfulness techniques.
📊 Progress Tracking: Visual reports showing improvements in mood and mindfulness over time.

Takeaways: What I Learned
This project reinforced the importance of empathy in design. The more I understood users’ emotional needs, the better I could tailor the experience. Small tweaks, like adding mood-specific exercises and clearer AI feedback, helped refine the app’s value.
Next Steps: What’s Coming Next
Although the project is conceptual, the next steps would include:
🔍 User Testing: Iterating further based on user feedback.
📱 Device Optimization: Ensuring a seamless experience across all devices.
💡 Additional Features: Integrating daily reminders, community support, and progress sharing.
🗣️ Accessibility: Adding voice feedback and options for users with accessibility needs.
